FKM USA is introducing a new product offering
the spring of 2007, which consists of a unique rotary casting
process that uses highly reactive polymers to build-up layers
of material onto a rotating roll core. This innovative process
dramatically reduces the cost and production time to produce
PU rolls.
FKM and Bayer-AG™ are revolutionizing
the polyurethane market in North America, Europe and abroad
through the introducing of our innovative, state-of-the-art
approach to coating rollers. Our process involves the direct
application of high-reactive polymers directly to the roll core.
Advantages of this process include the elimination of molds,
and in only the rarest of cases, is a secondary curing process
required when highly specialized polymers are employed. Our
process is far more flexible than the standard mold technology
since we direct cast onto any kind of rotational-symmetric body,
resulting in considerable cost advantages over traditional methods.
FKM utilizes Bayer Polyurethane Systems formulations
for creating polyester, polyether and polycarbonate materials,
which are highly sophisticated and in many respects proving
to be superior to competing chemistries. An example is the recently
developed Polycarbonate-PU (PC-PU). This high performance material,
works most successfully in chemically aggressive media such
as caustic or acidic solutions, while maintaining outstanding
mechanical performance with regard to abrasion and tear resistance
and modulus.
